Taking some agency over my experience on IG feels necessary + long overdue. So I've done a hard audit of who I'm following...and got rid of over 3K people who were following me 😱 "But Jaaaaaane, why would you do that? Isn't your book coming out soon?" Yep! Which is why I need all the energy I've got to give my novel the best possible chance at reaching readers. And shouting into the void at bots + ghosts is NOT how I want to expend that energy. This space is for people who want to engage in a meaningful way... and all the random spammers, shops + friends of friends' exes were never going to do that (+ probably had me muted anyway) so they are absolutely no loss. I'm not here to carry dead weight. If you're not here to interact then what are you here for?     Creeping back to IG after reaching a milestone wit Creeping back to IG after reaching a milestone with one of the hardest creative processes I've ever been through - the most recent round of edits on my novel. Ngl lads, it's been TOUGH. I totally did not expect this stage to bring with it all the things it did, so I'm beyond grateful to the pals who've shown me so much compassion + understanding while I've been grappling with stress, grief, retraumatisation, overwhelm, uncertainty + good old general existential + creative crises (also v grateful for everyone who's been so patient with all the many cancelled plans!). Never been so happy to press send on an email! πŸ’ŒπŸ‘‹ Keep your friends close kids - especially the ones who get what a weird, bittersweet, beautiful thing it can be to spend time at the intersection of survivorship + creativity. βœ¨πŸ’– I'll be prioritising rest + time spent tending to my mental + physical health as much as I can over the next week but in the meantime HI.     Missed pole last week + can't wait to be back in c Missed pole last week + can't wait to be back in class tomorrow so here's some recent highlights πŸ€˜βœ¨πŸ’– Remember that scene in Tank Girl where she breaks a man's neck with her thighs? As a teenager that was my absolute goals in terms of being badass + strong + able to trust your body to do wild things when needed. (Also thanks Lori Petty for being one of many women with shaved heads to make me realise how very not straight I am 🀩) Anyway it's a totally different context but being able to hang upside down by my legs like a rock'n'roll bat is something I'm truly proud of, putting me closer to my teenage Tank Girl aspirations than I've ever been πŸ˜‚πŸ¦‡ My relationship with my body has never been better, it's so lush to celebrate learning skills + building strength compared to how historically effed-up my feelings about exercise/ embodiment have been. Pole is so fun, joyful + healing even when it's hard, feel v grateful for having access to it, + to @blushdanceuk @sian.annabelle + @radiofireworks for being the absolute best πŸŽŠπŸ’–πŸ’ͺ
