A free zine for you from a session I led last week…
Last week, I led a workshop for an organisation in Liverpool, on zine-making as a tool for joy, resilience and resistance. As part of the prep for that session — and as a way of refamiliarising myself with the process and practice of zine-making — I made an introductory zine about: why I love zines as a form (they’re punk as fuck, they’re anti-capitalist, they’re accessible, anti-algorithm and anti-censorship, they create and reinforce community, subculture and memory); why building a creative practice is one of the most practical and self-compassionate things you can do for your physical and mental health; and some resources and places to start for exploring zines in more detail.
It’s my first zine in many years (maybe since being a literal teenager?) a deliberately basic experiment using the classic one-page format.
